In the past month, I have fallen in love with Christina Lauren’s books. Roomies, in particular, brought a smile to my face and a flutter to my heart.

Holland has been going out of her way to see Calvin, the beautiful guitar player at a Subway station near her apartment. Holland is too scared to talk to him, but when Calvin witnesses Holland being attacked and pushed onto the subway tracks, he helps save her life. However, he then told the police he didn’t see anything else. Holland comes back to the platform in an attempt to introduce this stranger to her uncle, in hopes that he can help save her uncles musical and as a way to thank Calvin.

It turns out that Calvin is in the US illegally and the only way he’ll be able to stay and help Holland’s uncle is if Holland marries him! The two embark on this fake relationship, where they are basically glorified roomies which very quickly turns into a very real relationship. However, they are both hiding something… will it be enough to tear them apart?

I fell in love with Calvin’s character immediately. Christina Lauren’s ability to describe and develop this character is truly mesmerizing. Holland may be living a privileged life thanks to her uncles, but she is also a very lovable and relatable girl. I could relate to her overbearing crush that she had no control over, and I could understand her desire to help her family out by marrying Calvin.

This may be one of my favorite Christina Lauren novels, and I can even imagine picking it up in a few years and re-reading it. I love love love Holland and Calvin, and I loved Roomies. This is 100% a 5 out of 5 star novel for me.
