Holland has such a strong narrative voice that I was immediately sucked into the story! I loved the story about being born in a cab--it was a nice transition to the action of going to meet this busker that she is obsessed with. I also like that it takes place in New York City.
The prose was strong too. It suited her character especially, since she is an aspiring writer. I normally don't enjoy characters with this aspiration, because it sometimes makes the plot too "meta," but in this case it fit in nicely and piqued my interest.
Between sparking dialogue and lovable characters, "Roomies" looks like it is going to be a fast-paced and highly enjoyable read, possibly with a nice dose of romance.
