RomeAntically Challenged was a fun, sweet rom-com read that I could easily see being made into a big budget rom-com summer movie or could also be a smaller yet entertaining Lifetime or Hallmark movie. It seemed slower in the beginning, and sometimes repetitive as the back stories were introduced, but also it sometimes seemed to be missing pieces of information that would have been helpful in the beginning, but were later introduced in the book. Overall, I really enjoyed this book except the ending which felt rushed and incomplete, especially just as the readers were getting to know and care about the characters. It would have been great to portray the outcome of the big slumber party, if Emmit & his dad reconcile (and if his dad beats cancer AND gets a new relationship!) and hints as to their future besides a trip to Rome. I also loved that the book was descriptive, but was disappointed that at every scene it was lauding how "perfect" their bodies or faces were. Women are made to feel woefully imperfect and inadequate in advertising and movies and TV shows, so it would be great if more romances portrayed more average women in love, not perfect barbies. I read this book because I just received the sequel to review, so decided to read this one first.
