When Annie's fiance traded her in for another woman he kept the wedding she had planned, including her grandmothers dress and wedding date, and no one but her has a problem with it. She quickly decides she needs a new start. When a job opportunity at a hospital in Rome comes available she jumps at the chance - only to discover its Rome, Rhode Island, not quite the exotic escape she had envisioned. Still its a chance to start fresh away from all the questions that she doesn't know the answers to and so she goes. Things are going well until the sexy but cocky owner of the house she's renting shows up unannounced, underdressed and unaware that he has a tenant. Neither of them think they should have to leave and so they become reluctant roommates.

I read an excerpt of this one on BookishFirst and absolutely loved it so when I found out I won a copy I was really excited! While this is a cute rom-com story it also has some serious undertones that I think were handled really well, including adoption and racial identity, co-parenting, illness and familial feuding. There are a few ways I think that the story could be improved, like I was really hoping that Annie would accept the insistent invitation to her former wedding with Emmitt on her arm, and I don't think that the last bit of conflict was completely necessary, but overall this is a really enjoyable read.
