Right from the beginning, I knew I was going to love this book. You immediately fall in love with the lead character Annie and know to root for her and Emmitt from the moment he surprises her at home. Annie and Emmitt’s relationship was relatable, unlike many romance stories. You could understand why both were cautious leading into the relationship in both a friendship and love capacity. I loved seeing all of the characters mature as the book went on. And as they matured, all of the characters developed deeper backstories and also deeper relationships. The author went so into detail that I truly felt these characters were people I knew. There were so many layers to each character. Whether it was discussing Annie’s adoption story or Emmitt’s relationship with Paisley, there was so much to learn and not everything was as it seems. I really enjoyed this book and hope to read more from this author in the future.
