I've read a few graphic novels and watched superhero movies, so I found this to be an enjoyable, quick read.
I didn't know much about the silver age of comics, so this was an educational read for me, as well. It's a hefty, colorful book, so readers of all ages are likely to find this book appealing. The illustrations are really well done.
The author obviously did a lot of research (or is quite knowledgeable) on the subject matter. This would be a nice "coffee table" book to keep on display and reference. It's a nice way to see how far comics have come. The chapters are divided into major comic book ages, so that helps, as well, particularly if the reader is interested in something specific, such as Marvel comics. It was a nice reminder that there are other sources out there besides Marvel and DC.
