Good if you’re a true super hero nut or a total newbie
I enjoyed the First Look of Rise of the Superheroes most particularly because of the artwork! I was a huge Superman fan and actually recognized many of the Superman and Action Comics covers from the late 1950s. However, most of the info is probably familiar to any long-time fan of superheroes, although I expect there would be some new nuggets for any reader. The book is well-written, though, and gives a good introduction to golden age superhero comics for someone who’s a newbie.
The book is not only a reference but also includes the author’s personal experiences as well, which I enjoyed. It’s a fun and easy read and would be a great book to dip into – probably an excellent “coffee table” read. The cover and the internal artwork are terrific - crisp and clear and the colors are lovely.
