I had high hopes for this book when I started it. I started off pretty strong but it fell a bit flat for me. I liked the first portion with Rasheed and Rasheeda and their relationship as brother and sister and the relationships they become involved in. I was disappointed that Rasheeda was mostly out of the picture after that. The middle portion focusing on Rasheed and Giselle was good but lost me at how Giselle was judged as treated for having reasonable reactions to being unsure or the future of her relationship. The last third just kind of lost me. It almost seemed like another book. While Janice’s behavior may not have been optimal her treatment didn’t not seem reasonable. The entire situation just did not seem realistic. There also seemed to be a lack of character development at the end.

Thanks to bookish first and Greenleaf for the opportunity to read this book.
