The first few chapters of this book seemed interesting and thought that there was going to be some depth to the characters and their stories. I felt like just as we were just getting to know the characters they would change or the story that was being told did and it you were not sure when or where the change took place. I found it difficult to follow.

Twins Rasheed and Rasheeda born Muslims have different ideas on life, love, and religion. Rasheeda has more liberal beliefs than Rasheed but he tends to follow her lead after thinking more about her ideals. Rasheed finds a lover (Natalia) and then his sister, Rasheeda wants to find love so they set up to set her up with someone. It seemed so secretive on how the girlfriend and sister are to meet each other and then how they introduce her to the man they want to set her up with – not sure if this is because they have different religious beliefs or if it was just the timeframe on when the story was set. At one point when we were learning about the characters Rasheed basically disappears leaving his lover wondering what is going on - the twins father dies and when they come back together where the title of the book is referenced – “Replenishing the Sea of Galilee.” They basically both go morn for their love ones as her mother died during that same time.

The guy they set her up with is a British intelligence officer, who comes to Rasheed with an opportunity. The British government is recruiting nine Palestinians to be officers and war correspondents. The twins lives are threatened and they end up leaving everything behind including their lovers.
Rasheed’s girlfriend ends up missing shortly after they leave and not heard from again. Until right before Rasheeda is to be married (to an Earl), Rasheed learns he has a son who is brought to him as they were able to get him out of the prison where Natalia was being held captive but she was not.

The book moves through Rasheed’s son life and him growing up having to move to Houston, Texas as they are once again threatened and he leaves his lover behind…
