Replenishing the Sea of Galilee is an interesting story of a Middle Eastern family. The book begins with the relationship between Kareem and Amina and then moves on to the lives of their twins Rasheed and Rasheeda. They are in Palestine working in their family's inns. Rasheed falls in love with a Jewish woman named Natalia and then she suddenly disappears. Even though both Rasheed and Rasheeda are forced from their homeland, he never gets over his love for Natalia. The story ends in the 1970s with the family reuniting. It is a story of love, loss, religion, and family. I found it a bit slow going at times. It felt a bit forced so the plot came across kind of flat for me. However, the characters were well-written and the setting was really interesting. I found the Middle Eastern way of life pretty fascinating. It really brings to light the conflicts of the times.
