This is a story of two brothers, growing up, finding love, and starting their families. It is a story of three generations, describing cultures, and different countries. I love reading a book on a families struggles and tribulations, but this story soon fell flat, and I was slow to read. I love stories about the Middle East and the conflicts and yet we are left at a loss. The writing was choppy and the characters were not fully developed. It seems the author tried to write a sweeping generation story and tried to do to much and lost focus. The author used to many unrealistic events to move the story along. I was disturbed by the priest and felt the sexual nature of his teaching a sexual lesson was unnecessary and uncalled for in a time when we have so much abuse of power by religious figures. All in all, I was disappointed in the book which I had high hopes for reading the storyline.
