Replenishing the Sea of Galilee describes itself as a sweeping story about love, loss and the power of loyalty in the face conflicting ideologies and religious beliefs. One of the main characters falls in love with a Jewish woman, who eventually disappears. The family is tested and loyalty is proven.

I was excited to read this, as I know little about the Palestine culture back in the 1940's. To be honest, this book was not for me. I never felt a connection with the characters--they were one dimensional to me and I never rooted for them. I felt that the author was rushing the story. I also did not care for the story line of the priest encouraging a character to watch him have sex, as well as letting the priest watch him have sex. In this day and age of the priest sexual abuse cases...this just left me feeling disgusted.

Overall, this book was not for me. While I do enjoy historical novels, this story line and the characters were not for me.
