The concept of exploring relationships between Muslims and Jews is interesting, as is exploring female empowerment - especially in Islam. But this story feels very formal, and gives the reader the impression of a recounting with little to no emotion. Perhaps this is a cultural difference, but contentious issues should strike stronger emotions to me.
