I have mixed feelings about this book- I liked it for the most part, but it wasn’t my favorite. The primary reason this isn’t 5 stars is because it was very slow and at times repetitive. It could have been maybe 50 pages shorter.

This story is told from multiple perspectives Gaelle, Winter/Margot and Abigail. My favorite timeline was the one in which Winter and Margot lived- that story grabbed my attention and kept me reading. Gaelle’s timeline seemed unnecessary and didn’t really add anything to the story. The ending also left me unsatisfied. I wish the author would have focused a little more on the historical aspect since there aren’t as many historical fiction novels from this time period.

With all of that said I did enjoy this book. The magical aspect was intriguing and I connected most with Winter’s character and timeline. As a debut this is a really great read and I would definitely recommend this book.
