I don't think I have seven hundred characters for this review. I thought the book would be a little more about the Underground Railroad, especially since the book is based in the state of Ohio, Ohio being known for a very heavily traveled underground railroad. Instead it is based on a village were free slaves do seek refuge. A older woman commonly known as Mother Abigail who hails from Haiti, maybe practices vodun, protects everyone in Remembrance and the Edge. Her old and blind friend Josiah is her confidant. She raised a young girl named Winter, who is supposed to be her successor, but too busy being a playful young girl to pay mind. The Edge gets compromised and white men come slave hunting, free or not.
