This book was very good. I took my time reading it because I did not want to run out of story. I loved seeing how the lives of the women in this book fit together. Remembrance was a magical place where the slaves could escape to freedom and live out the rest of their lives in peace and happiness. Mama Abigail is the one who brought Remembrance to life and created it. The personalities of the characters had me wanting to read more and at the same time, not wanting it to end. Winter is one of my favorite characters. She was never a slave but was brought to Remembrance for her special gift. She would one day take the place of Mother Abigail. I love to read historical fiction and this book was amazing. It is the first book I have read from this author, but I would love to read more.
