Remembrance is a story of tragedy, survival, heartbreak and most of all hope. Hope in the face of insurmountable odds, hope in an unjust world, hope in the face of cruelty, and hope in the face of soul crushing loss.

Remembrance connects the stories of four different women who each have a unique “talent”. The author expertly weaves these lives together in unexpected ways.

I enjoyed all the characters with the exception of Gaelle. While I feel like her story tied everything together at the end, I never really cared about her character. Margot started as a strong character but lost something as the book progressed. Winter had the most character growth and development so I loved seeing her progression. Mother Abigail however was by far my favorite character in the book. She was so strong and amazing, the things she overcame were unthinkable.

This book is part magical realism, part historical fiction, at times it can be slow burn but it is such an amazing read. I loved it.

I received an ARC of this book through bookishfirst in exchange for an honest review.
