This story had so much potential, but unfortunately fell very flat for me. I had a hard time following who each character was at first, and how they all related to each other, and then found it very difficult to maintain interest as the book progressed.
The novel was picking up speed about one third of the way through, but once the magical realism hit, it lost my interest again. I struggled to find the motivation to finish the book, and kept picking up other things to read. I felt as if the parts of the story that were interesting, were rushed, and other parts were very wordy.
The author ended up weaving each character's individual stories together nicely. In the end, I was happy I finished this novel, but probably will not be recommending it to anyone.
