Well Written Mystery Thriller
I won a copy of Redemption Point in a Bookish First giveaway. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.
In the aftermath of his wrongful imprisonment for the abduction of Claire Bingley, former police detective Ted Conkaffey has the sincere hope of being able to disappear from the limelight for a while. Unfortunately, Claire's father Dale is lurking, ready to get his revenge on the man he is convinced is the real perpetrator.
A murder in a bar has the police having to work hand in hand with private detective Amanda Pharrell and her colleague, none other than Ted Conkaffey. Hired by the bar owner, as the man has no love for the cops, Amanda has her own stigma attached because of a murder conviction when she was young. As Amanda and Ted investigate, will they be able to solve the crime without putting themselves in danger?
Redemption Point is a great mystery thriller with a fast paced plot and well developed characters. Amanda is a quirky character, with great skills as an investigator and a certain charm that can sometimes be annoying. I wish the author had celebrated her brilliant mind and showed the other aspects of her personality less. Ted's problems in the aftermath of the accusation are very realistically drawn, although I find it hard to believe that the victim's father would be privy to that much private information. Overall, I really liked Redemption Point and I would recommend it to readers who enjoy mystery thrillers.
