Redemption Point is the second book in the Crimson Lake series. The second book could exist as a stand alone, but I feel the plot and characters are much more well rounded if you read the books in the sequence in which they were written.

I will be somewhat vague to avoid spoilers, but my pros and cons are as follows.

Pros:
1) I really enjoyed the writing style. The style is easy to read and follow.
2) I think many of the characters (such as Amanda) have unique characterizations that make them interesting.
3) The novel has twists and turns to ensure the reader is interested to continue reading and see what happens next.
4) I do like the way the book ultimately handled Ted's relationship with his family.

Cons:
1) I actually enjoyed the first novel a bit more than Redemption Point because Crimson Lake was more focused (i.e. one investigation was the primary focus versus two). Also, I think Ted and Amanda are better literally working together in the same town as coworkers than apart. I like their dynamic better when they are together.
2) I had to suspend a bit of disbelief that an ex police officer would react to several of the situations in the way in which Ted reacted.
3) I know it was intended to be unnerving, but the insights we're given to the criminal's mind were uncomfortable to read. I prefer to read about motives for certain crimes from the psychologist's, police, etc. perspective as opposed to this particular criminal's.
4) I did not love the resolution we've been given thus far in regard to Ted's case.

Overall, I did enjoy the book and would like to know what happens next.
