When former police detective Ted Conkaffey was wrongly accused of abducting Claire Bingley, he hoped the Queensland rainforest town of Crimson Lake would be a good place to disappear. But nowhere is safe from Claire's devastated father. I truly hope this book is submitted for an Edgar Award,
because this had me on the edge of my seat the whole excerpt. Candice Fox not only has a fresh spin; a wrongfully convicted cop turned PI, but the diary entry introducing us to the killer felt straight from Forensic Files or Mindhunter. on Netflix. She lets the reader start making their own forensic analysis, their own profile from the very first page. She makes you feel for Ted a quiet man who just now wants to live in peace with his geese, but his PI partner Amanda won't let him fade away into himself. Australia is rising with writing talent; last year my fave thriller of the year was Emily Maguire with An Isolated Incident. ; I can't wait to read more of Candice Fox who will be giving her a run for her money. I hope this has been submitted by Macmillan for the Miles Franklin Litterary award, truly worthy writing. I look forward to promoting this book on my Instagram and Good Reads page!
