I *really* wanted to like "Queenie" -- pretty much everybody else I know who read it did -- but I just didn't connect with it. The story itself wasn't bad, but I have trouble reading this type of writing. I found the inclusion of text messages particularly jarring throughout the text and the writing a bit too simplistic. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't a style I'm able to really digest well as a reader. It was all a little too in this moment of time for me.

I did, however, appreciate how well thought out Queenie's character was. She had a lot of complicated feelings and a backstory that the author seemed to have really considered. I didn't understand why she made a lot of the choices she did, but it felt like she was on a journey.
