I cannot remember the last time I read a book where I laughed out loud at and felt so bad for someone all in one sitting.

Queen is a woman you find yourself routing for as she confronts her disastrous life in a way that has you cracking up and then screaming. Her life of debauchery is catching up to her in ways that are breaking her down. There were so many moments in this book that I was just praying that she would turn herself around and engage in self-respect, only to find her falling into the trap of someone who has experienced some sort of trauma in their life that has diminished their self-worth. In the end, you can’t help but want the best for Queenie.

A brilliantly written book about trying to fit in, find love, making ever so common female mistakes, and depending on friends and family to pull you up by the bootstraps.
