I forced myself to make it to page 55 and then I was done. An official Did Not Finish (DNF) for me because I couldn't force myself to read any further. I don't understand how this is supposed to be a black version of Bridget Jones Diary. I genuinely like Bridget Jones Diary, which made me excited to read this book because of that comparison. I do respect that this seems to be heading in a mental health direction--if not, then it should have because Queenie definitely has some self-esteem, self-love issues in terms of the poor treatment she tolerates from men. Overall, I didn't care about this character or even knowing how it ends. The only humorous part was the initial description of awkwardness at the gynecologist during a physical exam because they do make small talk with you while they're doing the exam. As much as I LOVE this book cover, I didn't feel that love for the story itself.
