Queenie is a must read! It's funny, it's honest, it's heartbreaking – it's an emotional story of a black twenty-something woman in today's political age. Our heroine goes through a breakup, a floundering career, and a nervous breakdown. Her story is raw and real, sometimes brutal at times. It's not a light-hearted read, although there are some laughs. Queenie will have your emotions going through a roller coaster, experiencing all the highs and lows alongside Queenie. She is flawed and frustrating, which makes it very easy to connect with her and see yourself in her. She is in her twenties trying to get through depression, self-esteem issues, and trauma, and who hasn't? I highly recommend Queenie – it's an honest look on life and I'm thankful I read it.
