I like the way Candice Carty-Williams allows you to peek into the life of Queenie and her Jamaican background. Queenie straddles two cultures - that of being Jamaican and that of being Black. Her circle consists of her loud Aunt, who believes in the horoscopes; her Grandmother who knows her moods by the sound of Queenie's voice; her white boyfriend, past neighbors, and her friends.
How did she and Tom get to the point where he's asked her to move out, what did she do at his Mum's party? I definitely want to know that and more. Will the two get back together?
