Queenie in this brief excerpt has dealt every hard blow that a young woman has to endure. The loss of a baby, the loss of her love, not knowing what direction she is heading. It is well written, and engrossing with flashbacks of childhood comfort moments in a Jamaican Bakery that no longer can be found in her neighborhood. She learns that we can never go back, and nothing stays the same; but we can learn to love ourselves with all our "stuff". Relationships cannot grow without learning to let others in, and I hope we see that Queenie learns the truths of communication is important to hope of a future I would recommend this book to any young woman who has experienced hard truths of breakups and miscarriage.
