A fascinating and helpful guide for how to incorporate real established science and forward thinking scientific theory. The best science fiction books, or even fantasy books, draw on a kernel of real scientific fact or theory the ground and build fictional worlds. While it has plenty of great advice for writers, this book is great for fiction readers and non-writers that are looking for some crash-courses in the basics of all sorts of fields of science often relevant to science fiction, mystery, or many of genres.

There’s crash courses in toxicology, genetic engineering, psychology, biology, ecology, zoology, technology (cybernetics, nanotechnology, etc.), energy science, astronomy, relativity, etc. These are written by real scientist and engineers that are experts in these fields. There also helpful tips on researching science and technology topics and finding experts to consult with.

Its a unique book of real science geared towards scientific concepts relevant to fiction. It’s not excessively technical or unaccessible to the layman and I found it interesting even though I’m not a writer. Very interesting and unique read!
