Writer's Digest Books has created a great resource for writers with Putting The Science In Fiction edited by Dan Koboldt. For me, this isn't the type of book you read cover to cover but instead explore chapter by chapter as you research certain topics.

While I am not a science fiction writer, I think this book would be a great resource for any writer. While the title of the book might make you think that this book is for those who write about space and alien invasions, this down-to-earth look at the science that influences popular culture is a must read for all writers.
