"Putting the Science in Fiction" is hands down a must-have reference for any writers who want to write science fiction. I'm not a writer, but as a reader across genres, I can appreciate this book. Not only do the contributors touch on typical science-y things, such as outer space, they also explain the human condition. I really appreciate part three, as it explains mental illnesses in fiction. I can't express how important it is to have proper representation of mental illnesses in fiction.

There are 59 chapters in the book written by experts in various fields of study, such as physics and astronomy. These experts explain complex ideas in simple, easy to understand terms.

This book is a down-to-earth guide for those curious about learning how to write good science fiction.
