I don't make a practice of reading non-fiction very often, and even less frequently read how-to-write books anymore (it sort of depresses me about how little I write) but this caught me from the very beginning. One of the things I most care about getting right in my writing, and which most bothers me when it's obviously wrong, are technicalities within a field. Blame it on being a doctor's kid!

Putting The Science In Fiction is engaging, and a good teaching tool while not being too scary (in my opinion) about ever trying. In fact, despite the fact that several of the excerpts spoke about how much these professionals want to throw bad examples of science across the room, it was empowering and exciting to me to read their takes on how to do it better. The tone is conversational and easy to read.

I would ABSOLUTELY use this book and recommend it as a resource to those who want to write science fiction -- or horror, mystery, YA, any fiction that involves science, which is quite a bit!
