I love how to writes essays about his past. I also LOVE how to talks about how the book flashes to the present in his current thoughts. He goes back and forth about his life in Pittsburgh and Northeast Ohio. It is a well written book with interesting topics of the author's life.

I really enjoy the writing about his struggles in a relationship with another man. It is hard to be an African American, but it is so much harder as being a gay African American. It brings the book to be more unique than other Nonfiction books. . I could feel the author's loneliness and pain. It showed me a perspective that I would not have known or thought of if I didn't read this memoir, so I am thankful that Brian Broome shared his story and his tabula rasa. It is such a deep moving book which shows what a lot of young men might not experience. It also shows how people are brought up in the past decade and how society changes over time.
