I found this to be an interesting read on several levels. The who-dunnit was intriguing, and the stories of each of the three suspects were revealing. I felt I got to know each one as an individual, and it was difficult as I grew to like each one, not knowing if he was a murderer. I liked the different points of view, not just those of Ramon, Trey, and JD, but of their family members, friends, and other students, teachers, and community members. The short chapters kept the story moving quickly, which was good because I had a hard time waiting to learn who the guilty party was and how things would resolve. I would not have liked to be a student at Promise, even though the motives for founding it seemed worthwhile. Somewhere, it went off the skids.

The cover art is arresting. At first I thought it was a horror novel. It will stay with me longer than most cover art.
