I was on the fence about this book because mystery isn't really a genre I enjoy, but the formatting of the preview and the cover really had me want to read more. I'm so glad that I did because this is probably going to be one of my favorites of the year! There are a lot of POVs, especially at the start but it's done in a very purposeful and easy to follow way.

It is a book I would say can be triggering. I felt very upset, angered, and disgusted at the experience of these kids, just because they are not white. It's also a book that made me question my own school system, which I'd never considered racist or controlling, but now I'm wondering if maybe it was

I'm not really sure what else to say without spoiling anything. The characters were great and well developed. I did think the end felt a bit sudden? Like, it fit, but it was also a sort of ending that felt unexpected and a bit lucky? Sort of like trying to solve a puzzle and you think you have all the piece but then, at the end, you're told that you were missing a piece
