Let me start off by saying, that I don't fall into the YA category. However, I found "Promise Boys" by Nick Brooks to be an interesting read. I'm always looking for books (in particular) diverse YA reads for my classroom. Mr. Brooks did an amazing job of developing his plot and characters within the first 33 pages of the "First Look". The chapters are not only broken down by characters, but explain who the characters are and their feelings of the death of principal Kenneth Moore. Thus far, the strongest suspect appears to be J.B.
