Rapunzel is coming for your SOUL!
This book was absolutely fantastic! Alexandra Christo has a unique way of writing twisted fairytale retellings with evil heroines who just might not be so evil after all and will mange to steal your heart (or your soul!). Fans of her previous "evil little mermaid" book, To Kill a Kingdom, will be enchanted once again with her take on "evil rapunzel" set in the same universe, with whispers of our favorite siren, though Princess of Souls can absolutely be read by those new to her works as it is set in an area entirely with its own history!
If you are a fan of snarky banter, "I'm not sure whether to kill you or save your life" vibes, and a little bit of fairytale magic, this book is PERFECT. Selestra and Nox don't just throw out hilarious one-liners, they feed off each others energy from the very first time they meet.
While it is not an entirely faithful rapunzel retelling to the one you may know, there are nods to the original tale that had me smiling throughout.
