Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was a pleasant read, that did keep me captivated throughout. I enjoyed watching Selestra grow and develop as a character. Nox was also an interesting character to read about. I don't think we saw his growth as much as Selestra's, but I still enjoyed his journey. Irenya and Micah were decent side characters, though they could have been fleshed out a little more.
The plot kept me captivated, though it did drag a little in the middle. The writing was strong, the characters were interesting, and yet there was something missing. I finished this a few days ago and the details are already fading. This one, while an enjoyable read while I was reading it, just didn't stick with me. It's not a book that I'll keep and reread, unfortunately.
Would absolutely recommend this for the young adult aged crowd and for those adults who enjoy YA. Not my favorite book, but one I enjoyed in the moment.
