Princess of Souls is an imaginative story that takes you on an exciting ride. The two main characters, Selestra and Nox are easy to connect with and root for as the story goes along. Although I understood what Selestra was going through I enjoyed reading the chapters with Nox more. I liked his twisted sense of humor and near constant sarcasm. The story is a Rapunzel retelling but still felt like a new spin on things and I found myself interested immediately. I enjoyed the interactions between Nox and Selestra. It was funny and it made it even easier of a read for me.
The action of course takes some time to get to but I like how the author takes the time to develop the characters wants and needs. We know what both Selestra and Nox want and everything at risk for both of them. I appreciated that Selestra wasn’t a damsel in distress but rather a powerful witch with a huge future looming ahead of her. And Nox was a well known soldier with a plan driven by his own deep pain from the past. It made the story hard to put down. I’ve got to say I love the way the author builds the tension as the story moves forward. I also just really liked her writing style. I’m happy I found this book and the author. A new fave. I’d definitely recommend others check this book out if you like YA and fantasy.
