In Pretty Boys, David Yi takes us through the history of male beauty starting with the Neanderthal and ending with 10 current “Pretty Boys.” Each chapter also ends with some beauty tips written by an expert in that area that are great for anybody.
This book was super fun to read and I learned a lot about not just beauty, but also how toxic masculinity and the gender binary became what they are today. All of the history was written in very simple, easy-to-read (and hilarious) language which made it a breeze to read.
I loved the diversity of the figures highlighted and this book really made me want to learn more about some of these iconic pretty boys and also the history of the gender binary.
