Practice Girl follows Jo Beckett on her journey to overcome her insecurities and her depressing, unsuccessful romantic streak. Jo faces challenges that help shape her into a better person, and she realizes a lot about herself, her relationships, and the person she wants to be along the way.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel from beginning to end. I devoured it in two days. I thought the writing worked really well, and I found the novel gripping from the very first pages. I love Jo and found her to be an excellent protagonist. These characters had some excellent witty comebacks and one liners that had me cracking up.

The novel is a pretty typical coming-of-age story, but it really captured my heart and attention. It was refreshing to read YA characters that were so self aware (even when they were struggling with just that). I also shipped Jo and Dax so hard. I think he's absolutely adorable.

I also love the friend groups and found family in this novel. The cover art is striking, and I'd recommend this book to all lovers of YA contemporaries.
