Jo has been in love a few times but the feeling has never been mutual. After sleeping with a boy on the wrestling team she helps manage she overhears him tell another girl he likes that she was just a "practice girl", a term given to girls you sleep with for experience but would never actually date. She discovers that those she trusted most, her wrestling team including her best friend, were all in the know and none of them came to her defense. She is left feeling angry and hurt but she refuses to let herself be defined by the label she was given.
This was a really good book that I had a difficult time putting down. I think the character is very relatable to not only teenage girls but also women in general.
She wants so desperately to be in love and be loved that she jumps right into bed with the guys she likes before she has time to realize they don't feel the same. Her character grows throughout the story as she discovers who she is, who she wants to be, and what relationships she needs and doesn't need in her life.
I easily give this book a 5 star review and will definitely be looking for more by this author.
