That Cover! Can't wait to get my hands on this...
The cover for 'Picture Us in the Light' by Kelly Loy Gilbert is so great! I love how the boy is shown in black & grey, with the wall behind him bursting with colour, as he writes out the title of the book. This would initially lead me to believe that the book has at least a sub-plot including art, which I read that it does.
The book summary definitely sounds like something I'd enjoy reading. I'm a massive proponent of #weneeddiversebooks, and this book tells the story of a second-generation immigrant teen & his quest to really understand what has gone on in the past with his family. While not all immigrant stories include taped up boxes of secrets, I feel that this is actually a good representation of all second-generation immigrant teens... there's always things about their family's past life that they don't know & find out piece by piece.
If this book is anything like 'The Sun is Also a Star' by Nicola Yoon, as the summary says, I already know I'll love it. I can't wait to pick up a copy!
