Jay Reguero's family left the Philippines and moved to America when he was a year old. Jay hasn't spent much time thinking about the Philippines, but all that changes when Jay's cousin is murdered in the Philippines. Jay decides to travel to the Philippines to find out what really happened.

While there Jay learns about the state sponsored death squads that are murdering drug dealers and users. And feels compelled to do something about it.

In case you don't know the death squads mentioned in this book are real. According to human rights organizations upwards of 20,000 people have been killed. But there is no way of knowing the true number.

I liked this book a lot. It wasn't as dark and depressing as was hoping for but the writing was beautiful.

I look forward to reading more books by Randy Ribay.
