A Beautiful Exploration of Family, Identity, Grief and Loss

This book immediately drew me in with the eye catching cover and wrenched my heart with its genuine emotion. Jay was a phenomenal character to take us through Philippine culture. I loved the inclusion of Tagalog and the balance of explanations from other characters as well as words left in context. This book gave me a better appreciation of the beautiful culture and history of this island nation. It was a reminder to read beyond headlines and remember the people being impacted by these events. I have a new appreciation for the freedoms and government we posses. As well the reminder that the people living through these crises will always know what's best for their own country and people. The beautiful lyricism of the short essay like chapters kept me engrossed throughout the whole story. Would highly recommend to anyone searching for themselves.
