I've heard nothing but good things about this book. I've only been hesitant to pick this book up because I know nothing about Filipino culture and worried I might get lost but reading the first impression I can tell that Ribay will explain some things, and let the reader get context for other things - seamlessly slipping a reader who may not be Filipino into the culture so they can fully experience the book. The first look also made me cry at how much Jay cares for Jun, and how far he will go to figure out the events that led up to his death. It seems like a book that everyone should read, especially if they want to know more about what is currently going on in the Philippines.
