The description sounded interesting, like Juno Diaz, so I thought, "Why not check out the sample?" Within the first paragraph, I was hooked. The imagery created, the rhythm of the words, the feel of the setting was soothing and jarring all at once. I loved the words, yet they made me uncomfortable as the narrator cradled a dead puppy and cried. Imagery like this spoke to me of a poet creating prose: "...a layer of round stones that knock together like
skulls with each step." The subject is timely and relevant to today's world. This writer has definitely piqued my interest; I'll be looking for this book.
