Wow, I can't believe this 2019 release was not on my radar. The main character, Jay, is half-Filipino and half-white, and immigrated to the U.S. with his parents when he was a child. Over the years, he lost contact with his cousin Jun and is devastated when his dad tells him that Jun is dead. It leads to him realizing how little he knows about what's going on in the Philippines, and as he shares what he learns, I also learned so much that I'm ashamed of not previously being aware of. I can't remember the last time I read a book with a Filipino-American main character so I'm very glad this book exists and I look forward to reading the rest to see how Jay reconnects with his Filipino side. I really like the cover; it's eye-catching!
