There's a wonderful sense of language throughout all this, with beautiful, descriptive passages especially at the very beginning when talking about what happened to the liter of puppies he comes across while on vacation. No doubt great tragedies are going to likely befall Jay, and this excerpt makes it very likely he's going to be written in a way that is both sympathetic and real. There is also a definite sense of isolation that floats like a cloud above all of this, and this certainly feels like a novel that is going to be able to say a lot about life as it stands right now. This has all the hallmarks of being outstanding and profound!
