Imagine not knowing what really happened to your mother or not knowing who you really are. Sophia was in foster care after her mother died. Turns out she actually disappeared on a mysterious island in Alaska. She begins on a quest to find out what really happens. Why did all those people disappear from Bitter Rock? Where did they go? Sophia gets much more than she bargains for when she manages to visit the island her mom disappeared from under the guise of being a research intern. She fakes her last name and travels out to the island with nothing to lose.
This story was full of mystery. I kept wanting to find out more. The fog was a dangerous place to be but not just because visibility declined. Was there something out there that made people vanish? It was suspenseful at times. I enjoyed most of the characters and their stories. It was an enjoyable YA story.
