The past and the present come crashing together by quite a wild ride. I enjoyed the style of writing were each chapter has it's own story going and then they come together in a dramatic form.
Without giving the story away (no spoilers here) the main character comes full circle where the last chapter wraps into the first chapter. Awesome.
The "bitter" cold desolate description of Bitter Rock Island is down right eerie. Which is a great setting for the story. Cold--lots of mist--and mysterious. There is even a 'ghost town'.
Let's talk characters. All the characters move the story along in their own way. Even the birds, Terns, have a roll to play. As friendships develop they make a pact to figure out what happens in the 'mystery of the mist' and how to solve the puzzle; if there is a solution. They get into quite a predicament and must learn quickly to lean on each other and trust in one another.
